Our mission is to celebrate the lakes and shine a light on the growing problem of microplastics in the world’s largest freshwater system and to rally everyday people to protect these waters.

Through educational storytelling and products that celebrate lake life, Unsalted Seas works to make the invisible issue of tiny plastic fragments in our water visible and urgent, especially for the millions who rely on the Great Lakes for drinking water, recreation, and livelihoods.

We strive to create tangible impact by supporting water conservation nonprofits in the region and partnering with community groups that organize shoreline and beach cleanups, helping keep plastic litter from breaking down into microplastics and entering the lakes in the first place.​
